Blacksmithing is one of the main activities that a player can participate in while playing ATT. Over time, players will gather experience from their repeated activities and level up. Upon leveling up, a player is able to go to a shrine, such as the Blacksmith Shrine, and purchase a Skill.
The only way to gain blacksmith experience is to forge new weapons and tools. Smithing experience is awarded by the amount of 'hits' made to a blade, with each hit contributing a small amount of experience. Better hits provide more experience, so putting effort into your hits will level you up faster.
The Blacksmith Shrine allows players to obtain Skills associated with the Blacksmith profession. Typically, these skills increase a players ability to forge effectively. Overall, this falls into two broad categories: Forging faster and increasing time till you need to reheat a weapon/tool.
List of skills
Below are the various skills that a player can purchase. However, some skills have prerequisites, so not all skills are available to every player. Furthermore, as of 0.0.23.0, the maximum number of skills a player may have is eight. So, a player can have skills in addition to all of the available blacksmith skills because there are less skills than the maximum number. Blacksmithing is one of the few professions where this is true.. Below is a picture of the skill tree (please disregard the blue lines. The player who took this picture already had two skills bought).
Power Strike Skill Tree
Ember Composer Skill Tree
Ember Composer | Skills |
---|---|
'Steelsong:' A very powerful and useful skill. If a player forges in time with a glowing animation, the entire tool is forged slowly. This is different from regular forging where a player has to specifically strike every part of the tool individually. Overall, this drastically decreases frustration from trying to find the last spot on a nearly forged weapon. | |
'Ember Composer:' A swing-like action by the player will cause an unforged weapon to burst into flames, causing the weapon to heat up. This can extend the time between reheating and looks amazing. As a note, this skill does not work with fully forged tools/weapons. |
Heartcaller Skill Tree
Heartcaller | Skills |
---|---|
'Heartcaller:' The hammer is the key to a blacksmith's heart... Literally. By holding a hammer close to a player's chest, the player gains marginal increases in strength, heat retention and hammer durability. | |
'Heartcaller (Furor):' An upgrade to the previous Heartcaller skill. At the expense of some heat retention, strength is increased. | |
'Heartcaller (Ember):' The antithesis to Heartcaller (Furor), this skill increases the heat retention of the tool you're holding at the expense of your forging ability per hit |
Location
The Blacksmith Shrine can be accessed by Repairing a bridge (Stone and Dried Grass) located along the path near the Camps. Once this original path is created, another set of stairs can be constructed that leads to the Smithy. Below is a series of pictures that could help guide a player, but a few essential details (such as how to get to the location in the first picture are left out in order to promote a degree of exploration. Nevertheless, if you desire more information, please ask in the official Discord, or find a veteran player in game!
Coming from the Camps/Wooded Valley, there is a repair box that builds the bridge shown. It is necessary to build this in order to cross the river.
Once access to Blacksmith Shrine is built coming from the camps, another set of stairs can be built that lead almost directly to the Smithy. This shortcut makes travelling to the shrine significantly shorter.
