A Skill Point is gained when a set number of experience points are gained from doing a particular activity, and are tied to that activity. Skill Points can be spent on a Skill at one of the various Shrines.

Progress towards your next Skill Point can be viewed around the edge of a respective Shrines skill deck (left of where you place your hand). You'll see light-blue markers for your skill points, and a larger blue ring for your progress towards your next point. There is also a special shrine behind the Town Hall near the mountain pass which shows all professions and their respective experience points.

Upon unlocking the next Skill Point however, a sound akin to a chime and gold streaks of light will momentarily encircle your character.

Experience points can not currently be lost, other than through spending. The maximum number of unspent Skill Points a player can have is 3.

A player can only have eight active skills at one time. Because of this, and due to the fact that the later skills in each tree are generally better, players must choose whether to focus on one or two trees, or only take a few points in each.

If a player decides that they don’t want a certain skill they can pull it out of the skill deck and a portion of the experience used to unlock it will be returned.
